1 June 1930 – 23 October 2025
My dad, James Gordon Braybrook, was a man of quiet strength, sharp humour, and unshakable love for his family. He was the kind of man who didn’t need to say much — his actions, his care, and his presence spoke louder than any words ever could.
Born in 1930, Dad grew up in a world that demanded hard work and resilience, and he carried those qualities throughout his life. He met my mum, Mural Rose Owen, the love of his life, and together they built something truly special — a partnership grounded in respect, laughter, and deep affection. They were married at St Martin’s Church in 1954, and for more than six decades, they shared their journey side by side.
For over 60 years in Bilborough, Nottingham, Dad provided not just a home, but a foundation — a sense of stability, honesty, and pride. Later, in Skegness, he and Mum enjoyed the peace and comfort they’d earned together. He was a man who valued simplicity, who found joy in small moments — a good conversation, a family meal, or a shared smile.
Dad had a sparkle in his eye and a dry wit that could make anyone laugh. Beneath that humour was a deep kindness — the kind of steady, dependable love that leaves a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He taught by example: to work hard, to be true to your word, and to take care of the people you love. His wisdom and quiet strength will stay with us always.
Now reunited with Mum, the two of them together again, watching over us.
Their love — steady and enduring — will always be part of who we are.
Forever remembered.
Forever loved.
Forever Dad
Mark Braybrook
